Oven 350 deg F
Finely chop dates, add baking powder and hot water, mix and set aside.
Whisk together butter and sugar. Add eggs slowly. Fold in flour. Add baking powder, mix gently.
Add vanilla extract, almond extract and date mixture. Mix..Add nuts and mix.
Pour into a prepared 8 x 8 pan.
Bake 350 deg F for 30-35 mins.

Toffee sauce:
Add butter and sugar to a small bowl. Microwave for 45 secs, mix well. Add cream and mix well.

When cake comes out make pencil sized holes in top while warm. Pour sauce over cake (reserve some of the sauce for serving). Leave stand for 2 mins.

Cut into squares..serve with whipped cream and the reserved sauce.
